OpenSpace Core Capture
Redesigned our core 360° video capture experience
Overview
Using a 360° camera can be an intimidating tool for those in the construction industry unfamiliar with field technology. We wanted to make taking a 360° video capture as approachable and simple as possible.
Role
As the Design Lead on this project, I collaborated with our mobile team to improve various parts of the experience over the course of 2 years. I led the team in discovery, prototyping, prioritization, and visual design.

Learnings (this section is WIP. will be including additional information soon)
Not obvious that one could take multiple captures in sequence.
Showing the starting location on the sheet set up false expectations that we are able to show their live position during capture.
Field Notes feature still has challenges of adoption, even with making the CTA more prominent in the layout.
Image quality continues to still be a common concern (out of our control, for now).

🚩 Problem
Taking a capture is a critical step to experience the value of OpenSpace, but is also the biggest hurdle. Challenges include sourcing and connecting with 360° camera, and confusion around data processing.
Using data to identify our focus
Working with our data science team, we wanted to understand our most common customer complaints. One of the first areas we aimed to tackle was camera connectivity and improving issues with uploading data.
